Argüello-Kline, Geoconda

Geoconda Argüello-Kline was born July 7, 1955 and was raised in Nicaragua. She left Nicaragua in 1979 as a political refugee and settled in Miami, Florida. The wages there did not allow her to take care of her family, so she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada following family members who had taken union jobs upon their arrival. She joined as well and worked as a guest room attendant for eight years.

Ellsworth, Charlotte R. (Charlotte Rowberry), 1912-1998

Weltha Charlotte Rowberry was born in Carston, Albert, Canada on July 11, 1912. She married Elmo Hughes Ellsworth on October 16, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She worked in Las Vegas as a room reservation manager at the Flamingo Hotel from 1950 to 1967, then the Frontier Hotel from 1969 to 1970. After her husband died, she moved to Reno, Nevada where she worked as the room reservation manager for the MGM Grand Reno. She died in Salt Lake City on July 16, 1998.

Billman, Tomoko

Tomoko Sekiya Katsuko was born in Japan. She was a dancer in the Holiday in Japan stage show and came to the United States in 1960. The group performed the show at the New Frontier Hotel and Casino, Desert Inn Hotel and Casino, and Dunes Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in the early 1960s. After the show concluded, she stayed in the United States and eventually married Larry Billman in 1967. The couple went on to have two children, Sekiya Billman and Saadia Billman.

Fritz, Pom, 1950-

One of four children born to a farming family in Udon Thani, Thailand, Pom Fritz is a retired guest room attendant (Flamingo, Desert Inn, and Mirage) and member of Culinary Workers Union Local 226, serving the Union as committee member, shop steward, Trustee, and member of the Executive Board. Pom came to the U.S. with her second husband, an American, in 1972. After stops at Air Force bases near Sacramento and in North Carolina, she moved to Riverside, California, where her younger sister then lived.
