Touro University Nevada (TUN) is a private Jewish-sponsored higher education institution in Henderson, Nevada. Founded in 2004, it is part of the Touro College and University System, which consists of 29 schools in five countries. TUN and Touro University California comprise Touro Univeristy Western Division, which is overseen by chief executive officer and senior provost Shelley Berkley. TUN provides educational programs in health care and education.
Jackie Boiman (née Brooks) was born July 21, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Levittown, New York. Her religious connection began in the Levittown Jewish Center Sunday School and under the close relationship she had with her grandmother, who kept kosher and inspired her to do so.
David Dahan was born January 23, 1957 in Casablanca, Morocco. After a hasty departure in 1970, the family came to America and to Las Vegas, Nevada. By 1977, he married an Israeli nurse named Yaffa, who died in 2007. Her legacy is the Yaffa Dahan Nursing Education Fund, which Dahan established to assist outstanding nursing students in their dissertation research.
Steven Eisen (1966 - ) is the oldest son of Barry and Beverly Eisen, who were part of the migration of Jews from St. Louis to Las Vegas in the 1960s. He is married to Stacy Fisher and the older brother to Andrew and Robert Eisen. They are members of an early group of born-and-raised Las Vegans. Growing up Jewish, he became a bar mitzvah, belonged to B’nai B’rith Youth Organization.
