Gratton, Peter V.

Peter Gratton was born in 1944 in Staten Island, New York, where his father was in the Coast Guard. However, he spent his childhood in Minnesota. From 1965 to 1969, Peter was a member of the US Marine Corps, serving a tour in Vietnam. As his military duty was ending, he learned that his parents were relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada, so he moved with them after leaving the marines.

Martha Gould grew up in a small mill town on the Sugar River and attended the University of Michigan. A librarian at Dartmouth College gave her a job and then insisted that she return to school for a master’s degree. She earned her master’s in Library Science from Simmons College.

Gray, Lee

Lee Gray has been in Las Vegas since the 1950's. His father moved here in 1943, worked several jobs to save money, and then sent for his brother. He bought land, had his brother build a home on the property, and then sent for his wife and children. The whole family lived on the west side, and Gray's father and mother worked several jobs to provide for the large family. He has fond memories of the many youth organizations in which he and his brothers and sisters were involved.

Goynes, Theron

Theron Goynes was born August 20, 1929 in Texarkana, Texas. He attended college at Texas A & M University, was in the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), served in the United States Air Force, and then became an educator. Goynes met his future wife, Naomi Jackson, in Nashville, Arkansas where they were both young teachers in 1956.

Naomi Goynes was born as Naomi Jackson on October 30, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee to a minister father. Her first job was as a maid, but she had dreams of attending college. When Goynes attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, she received her teaching degree in home economics. Goynes met her future husband, Theron Goynes, in Nashville, Arkansas where they both were young teachers in 1956.

John Gubler was born in 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada. When Gubler’s parents moved to Las Vegas in 1936. His father practiced law and his mother raised the four Gubler sons. The Gubler family focused on education, family and their Mormon values. Gubler went on to become a lawyer and move back to raise his own family on the western side of the Las Vegas valley.

Henley, Larry, 1957-

Larry Henley was born in Portland, Oregon in 1957. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1973. He enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1975 and recieved his theatre degree in 1980. He was part of the stage crew at UNLV and segued into a profesional staff position in 1988. As of May 23, 2007 he is the director of artistic programming and production at the Performing Arts Center.
