Pinjuv, Mike, 1924-

Mike Pinjuv Jr. was born in 1924 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both of his parents were born in Austria-Hungary before World War I, now known as Croatia. His parents brought their family to Las Vegas in 1917 and raised six sons and two daughters during World War 1, the Great Depression, and World War II. Pinjuv Jr. attended Fifth Street School and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1942. He became Nevada’s second registered jeweler and worked for M.J. Christensen for ten years. Pinjuv Jr.

Irene Tabor was born November 24, 1932 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1947 with her family. She moved to McNeil Estates Neighborhood in 1957 right before her first son was born, and raised her children in that same house for decades.

Chenin, Susan

Suzie Chenin was born August 28, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. The next year, her parents, Joseph and Irene Chenin, moved the family to Las Vegas, Nevada. Her father, a dentist, was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, becoming the first Jewish dentist in the state – and only the thirtieth overall. After graduating from Las Vegas High School, Chenin attended Arizona State University. However, she quit school and moved to Los Angeles, California where she got a job with a large real estate developer. This was her first foray into the industry.

Dahan, David, 1957-

David Dahan was born January 23, 1957 in Casablanca, Morocco. After a hasty departure in 1970, the family came to America and to Las Vegas, Nevada. By 1977, he married an Israeli nurse named Yaffa, who died in 2007. Her legacy is the Yaffa Dahan Nursing Education Fund, which Dahan established to assist outstanding nursing students in their dissertation research.

Brickley, Theresa

Theresa Brickley was born around 1928 and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Brickley’s first chance at having a dance career was disrupted when World War II started when she was 16 years old. She immigrated to the United States with her American husband in 1951. After moving to Las Vegas, Nevada from Seattle, Washington, Brickley met Elizabeth Burkey in the Sun City Dance Company. They became best friends and performed together in various hotels all over Las Vegas, including the Sahara, Rio, and Mirage.
