Clark "Danny" Lee was born in North Las Vegas in 1935. He was mostly raised in his grandparents' homes, as his father worked construction and his mother drove a small trailer to and from his father's sites. When he was school age, his family moved here permanently so he could go to school. He graduated Vegas High School in 1953 and worked some small jobs around Las Vegas until joining the United States Army at age 22. He went to Army Electronic School and learned radar repair. He got out of the Army in May 1959, and married his wife Dorothy in 1960. He and Dorothy briefly moved to Chicago but returned when they found out Dorothy was pregant. Clark took a job as a State Farm Insurance salesman, which became his career of 34 years. He and Dorthy raised 4 children in Las Vegas together.

In his free time, Danny was an advocate for public libraries, serving as a trustee for the Clark County Library District. He was able to get the state to give Clark County $80 million, with which the library district built a number of the libraries around the Las Vegas Valley, all catered to the neighborhood's needs. He served on the board from 1983 to 1991.
