Oral history interview with Seth Schoor conducted on February 17, 2026 with Stefani Evans and Kristian Taketomo for the Game On! The Oral History of Las Vegas Sports. In this interview, Schoor talks fondly of growing up in New York, where his father was an art auctioneer, and his grandfather a gambler who loved to go to Atlantic City. Eventually, Seth's father met Steve Wynn and developed a lasting partnership. Schoor moved first to Atlantic City with his family, and later to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1984. Schoor's father worked closely with Wynn for years, while Schoor attended the Meadows School. Every summer, Schoor would join his father and work at the Treasure Island and Mirage casinos, in any available position. After graduating from Cate School in California, Schoor decided to attend The University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1999. He moved back to Las Vegas and began working for Bobby Baldwin in Bellagio's marketing department. Schoor then goes on to discuss various successes, challenges, and failures of opening casinos, including the Wynn Macau in China. Schoor explains the licensing, culture, and differences that came with establishing a casino in a new country. After a brief departure from the casino business and a move to New York, Schoor moved back to Las Vegas and invested in the Speedway Casino with the goal of it being the first Latino casino. This became reality in 2022, with the opening of Ojos Locos Sports Cantina. Schoor also helped form both Fifth Street Gaming and Betterview. He also discusses the revival of downtown Las Vegas, and how Tony Hsieh was a major contributor to its growth. Digital audio available; no transcript available.
