Oral history interview with Michael Green conducted by Claytee D. White and Stefani Evans on December 11, 2025 for the Game On! The Oral History of Sports in Las Vegas project. In this interview, Green discusses being a sports fan during the early growth of Las Vegas, and the history behind various sports teams and announcers. Born in Los Angeles, but having spent most of his life in Las Vegas, Green grew up immersed in the city's culture and sports. In 1973, Green was introduced to the transistor radio and able to listen to baseball games for the first time. He knew then that he had a deep appreciation for sports announcers, and even wanted to follow it as a career path one day. Instead of becoming a sports announcer, Green went into journalism and worked for the Valley Times Newspaper. He was able to attend infamous sporting events and interact Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal. Green goes on to discuss the path he has taken throughout his life, and how sports have been with him every step of the way. Digital audio available; no transcript available.
