Mardi Gras Ball
King and Queen- Voting will take place at the February meeting. Sorors will be asked to vote for one soror that they would like to be queen. A crown was donated for the queen by Soror Clair and Kenyatta. We have the Kings crown and the robes.
Decorations - Tables will not be numbered, they will have the names of New Orleans Parishes, Streets, and famous people. Ina and Jackie H.-Brown are working together. The table decorations will be simple this year. They will be purchased from a Party Store. A sign up sheet for help the day of the ball will be circulated at the meeting.
Umbrellas - They will be ordered this week after we get a count of the new sorors.
Hostess Coordinators-
Greeters - Kaweeda Adams and Ouida Brown
Ticket Takers - Barbara Kirkland
A sign up sheet will be circulated at the meeting for sorors to assist.
Souvenir Journal Contest - There is only one entry so far. Soror Kenyatta Neal- Johnson. An email will be sent to request others to participate. If no one else submits an entry, Kenyatta will win. Entries can be submitted at the February meeting.
Community Awards - The letters will go out this week. We still need a name for the Black Family. Each winner gets two tickets and hopefully they will want to purchase more to bring family, co-workers, and friends.
Souvenir Journal - Sorors need to be encouraged to sell ads. Our goal is to raise $8,000.00 on this portion of the event.
I will get the names of the newly transferred and reactivated sorors so that phone calls can be made to them to make sure they have Mardi Gras tickets.
I need to check to see if Tina can get rooms for the night of Mardi Gras. I will send her an email.

Ways and Means Committee Meeting September 15, 2003 - 6:00pm Home of Kaweeda Adams
Members present: Kaweeda Adams, Frances Perry, Lavonne Lewis, Verlia Hoggard, Donnyss Rucker, Tisha Johnson, Tasha Daniels, Wilhelmina Lee, Sharon Savage, Tina Rimmey, Annette Craighead, Jacqueline Hall, & Marian Bums
Movie Night was discussed. We are looking at getting a film that is just coming out. An independent film would cost the chapter to much money. This event may have to be continued until 2004 as the time as getting short and there are several events left to accomplish in 2003.
Card Tournament - The subcommittee met at Soror Diane’s house and report information in a separate report at the next meeting. We do know that raffle gifts are needed. Ticket turn in date is October 4th and October 15th.
Mardi Gras Ball - Committee voted to change the name of the Ball to the Emerald Ball. This would allow us to have a fresh theme. This also allows us to move away from the Mardi Gras dates and pick a date far enough away for Founders’ Day. The committee feels that we are competing with Founders’ Day for ticket sales as members at times sell to the same people.
Date of March 27th.
Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino
Soror Tina will check the date.
Menu change is also suggested. Possibly a sit down dinner instead of the buffet.
Soror Tina will check on menus
