? % IAS VEGAS MOTEL ASSOCIATION, INC* M £ w £ The old ^ saying "What's worth having, is < worth fighting for” rings a truo note for reviewing tho accomplishments of this organization^ efforts within the short period of its existence. Thru the efforts of Wittwor's Committee, Government Relations, many dollars will be saved your motel this coming year, Your sewerage disposal rates are now the same as the hotel rates. The new rates will save most motels from two to ten dollars a month, the savings being proportionate to the number of units. This change was effective January 1st. The new garbage rates scheduled to go into effect at the end of this quarter will be a definite saving to the majority of motels as the cost mil be on a container basis (Same as hotels and other business) instead of on a unit basis. More on this later. Did you know that you are paying $1.50 per unit per month for your water and the hotels are paying $.55 per room? This _s another inequality that Wittier3s Committee is challenging and should bring some excellent results in the near future, In the meantime you can discount from your regular water bill the vacancies you have each month at the rate of $1.50 per month for every thirty vacancies. This reduction must bo claimed prior to the 10th of the month following. This means a 50% savings on the water bills of many motels. For example one motel of twenty six units reported that the savings would have been approximately $25.50 for tho last month, The Purchasing Committee, Tom Franklin, chairman, has boon Successful in obtain- ing wholesale prices on many items. A list will be furnished to allambers soon. Ye King's Rost Motel saved $34-6.00 on two purchases thru tho Association. Monterey Lodge saved $48.50 on ono purchase. You can save also by calling Franklin at 3500, Is it any wonder tho enthusiasm for the organization is gowing by leaps and bounds? The hotels have realized these benefits for several years and they have a strong organization that lobbies and fronts every issue that will affect them individually or as a group. Plans arc now being made for a dinner party at one of tho resort hotels to get- bettor acquainted and have some fun. Bo prepared to have a largo evening end meet all the gang. Further details wilil bo sent to you! in the near future. TIM NOLLNER, President
