Form 1402 4-05-50m—W alters San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt lake: railroad Company Los Angeles, Cal*, May 31, 1905* Mr. C. 0. Whittemore, General Attorney, Las Vegas, Hev. Dear sir:- , I took up the matter of the issuance of certificates of title by the Title Insurance & Trust Co. for.the Las Vegas lots and, while they stated that they might possibly consider such a proposition, still it would cost them a good deal of money and this would necessarily make the certificates cost more. They said that they would rather not take hold of the proposition and suggested tmt the men connected with the Land Company form an insurance organization or abstract com- pitog? of their own and issue certificates. It would take very little capital, only enough to pay the expense of a searcher, and they rep-_ om®ended Mr. Chas. Squires, this work. The advantage in this would be that there would be a company there to bring down certificates hereafter when transfers were made and they believed that this would be a paying proposition in itself, besides saving the Company considerable expense by having an outside corporat ?V vi* T who is at Las Vegaa,as an excellent man for ion come in there. I have wired to Bhoeder as follows: *Can you meet Whittemore and myseif at Las Vegas Priday or at Caliente Saturday on arrival train from Los Angeles. Important. Answer." I will leave here Thursday night and will stop over at Las Vegas, when I will tdke up with you the matter of abstracts. Very respectfully, 3* / /L RA k ,Tax Ast.
