eceived yours written at the bank, together with fche affidavit from Stewart enclosed with it,Have had no word from Stewart up to this writing. But am to day in receipt from a letter £&&&&&&&&&&$&&& purporting to be from Elliot, but written from Ashtons Office and evidntley upon A sht0]ag type writer and I take it to be Ashtons diction.lt is very likley, however, that Elliot may have aked him to write the better, It states that Stewart through an agent had approched Elliot and showed him a letter saying Stewart still had the lease,(no doubt my letter to Stewart) and asking Elliot to join Stewart in secureing the erection of a plant upon the property, also that I had parties who would either purchase the process or pdt up the plant, and desireing to know whether or not the statements were true and if so what he might hope to scet in the process etc, for his interest I have decided to feel matters out a little further, and be sure the letter did come from Elliot, and for that purpose desire to trouble you a little further,In,that I wish upon receipt ©f this, that you would get Elliots phone number, and tell him, that I have received his letter and in writing vou, ftfc*Aft I stated x was very buisy, which is the fact, and to save writing another letter I desired you to call him and say, that,I had received lis letter, that Stewart has the lease, and further, that I expect to be in Los Angeles,on or before the 10th of February, and would see him personally, and that in whatever manner the af^are mav stoh apdoe biutssienlefs,si.t is our intention to take care of him if he desires If he did not know of the letter he will no doubt sav as much.and if he did it will be allright. It now looks as if I wil be in by the tenth,at the latest, cp loenavseer swartiitoen wati tho nEcle liaontd. tell me what you finde out from the Mrs Sadie B.^eorge^t'^homas,Nevada, •'an.31st,1919 DearLo sM aAdnagme: l~es,^al. uastley yours Levi typhus 3t jC homas, Nevada / Mrs Sadie R.George 802,l/2 East Kensington Read ^os Angeles Yours of 6th inst received and duly noted.3/6carslev understand some parts of it,or just the meaning intended, since 1 havent been in cotismunication with either Ashton or Stewart for some time now,and their corrispondence deseht disclose that either of them are,or will be,able to do anything the magnesite matter, No doubt their intentions are good enough, but since they havent the money and cannot get it what is the use of bothering. Our European people seem in earnest, and I am expecting anv time now to hear of their engineer arrivedng in New York, for the final examination of the property, but as he has a number of matters to attend to,it might be some little time after his landing before he takes up this proposition, however, it seems t.hev have the use f|g|t a soft magnesite such as ours, and which, from samples received by them ,they say suites their purpose and which thev sav tbev will take ofeer if it comes up to the report given, and since T have very much underated it to them, there is little question o” that' score. I had thought to be cornming into Los Angeles,in the near future, but have now arranged with the nartie whose deposition we wanted,in attend the water suite in person ,thereby eliminating the necessi+v of my makeing the trip. i do not think there is any hope of their being a salt sale at present, and as soon as Mr Toland has had tine to resume business, I shall thke up with him the return of the salt stock from ftp escrow, I have not forgotten that you asked for the return of Mr Ashtoss letters to you which you so kindley sent on to me,but desire to preserve copies of them, which I have not yet had time to make, and since it seems there is little probability of your being in a burrev for them | will take the liberty of holding them a little time Tnnger untill 1 can convenient ley make said copies.whereupon I will retuvo them. The Muddy River Water suite has again veen put over untill the 3rd of February. If you see or get irto communication with Mr Toland kindley extend oue sympathey upon the loss of their hov,Tt will be a great trial for them. wishing the present year to be a pleasant and nronsrrous #&&& one for you and yours 1 remain StThomas, Nevada | Jan. 9 th, 1019 Mns Sadie B.George uos Angeles, gal. Bear Madam:- Very truly yours 802,l/2 East Kensington Road Los Angeles Cal. M 1 shall send you this telegram todav"Am writing vou today, important, say nothing hut listen",and will send Aston &&&&& one which will read about as folows:"Have submitted paners cancelling Stewarts leas to an attorney, who says they are defective and bis lease & & & & & yet in force am prepareing to cancell same. | scareliy know how to commence, but will say, that while Aston mav have ment all right and possibley did not know any better, which T cannot believe, but all of the propositions he has made us up to date would he very bad ones for us,and would simpley wean/ turning +he property to him and his colle^gs and trust to their honesty as to whether or not we ever got anything out of it,and I dont think vou would want to go into a deal of that sort.We dont,Possibley he wav come to something that would he worth our while, but just now matters look a little dangerous for us,for reasons which I will trv and explain . StThomas, Nevada Lrs oadie B .george | Jtan. 11 tb ,101° Los Angeles,^al. "ear Madam:- First g will say our parties in Europe have written that t.hev will not be able to go on with the deal.so that is off. As nearley as can judge, from things ^ston has written, and the uneaseyness he displays as to whether or not we have cancelled Stewarts lease|Stewarts deal with xrofessor Elliot must be something like this, that Stewart had a lease on,or contrail of the professors Process for such length of time as he & & & & & & continued to hold the lease nr rosess-ion of the Magnesite claims, and that is the reason why Aston could not move untill we cancelled the lease with Stewart,You see, until! + ben he could nou get posession of the process to use on othgT’ nronertv but once in his nosession,he could make us take what he offered or l take the process to other property, and leave both us and steward pi the learch. But because of the fact that Stewart is sharteenough to still insist that he has the lease on the magnesite ^t makes Elliot afraid to let go of the process, for ^ear Stewart still has the lease on the magnesite,in which event he could rrocicute Elliot, if helet the process go.And Aston does not flare to go ahead with anv other property,or ours cither, for that matter until he is absolutlev sure we have cancelled ^tewarts lease, because if he did,and it developed that we had not cancelled it,then Stewart could bring suite and stop him from useing the the process and he would he stlUML. Henoe Astons dislike to have Stewart asserting that he still has tne magnesite lease and his persistance in trying to have me ^furnish positive proof that Stewarts lease is cancelled, and am sorrey to say I have nearlev fallen into the trap. But have the papers in such shape, that they will hear any construction we care to place on them.T,, fact Stewarts lease is not fulley cancelled,as vet,but can be. Ashton comes to something worth while, and if he wont do it tken we will have to hold to Stewart^ to keep Elliot from giveins: up the process Aston, toherwise we are done for. 1 could not make this all plain to you ty sending a wire, hut now ]K that you get it,l wish you would either phone or see Professor Elliot and tell him that I have wired Aston that Stewarts lease is not yet cancelled.otherwise Aston may get the old man tied no unawares, and leave^simject to a damage suite from Stewart for rriveiny ur process and subject to one from ^ston for agreeing to do somethin®: he could not do if we failed to cancell Stewarts lease id’erehv leaving him unreleased from Stewart, and so Aston could no*- wo on wi+h the process. i may be mistaken, you lnow,as to tbe real conditions of Elliots deal with Stewart. But 1 am pritty sure,as far as 1 now have matters worked out from the letters of all of them, that | am right, and if T am see the danger we are in.So nlease as a mat+er of safety, see or phone him as quick as you get this, and tell him mv attorney says the lease is not cancelled with Stewart, but, that I am "reDareim to jancell it, and see what he |~ y«- ," ggj i-irly~ 1 Expect to start down either Monday or Tuseday.so will very soon see you,and perhaps we can figure out what can '"he. made of t^e tangel V cry truly yo urs StThomas,Nev.Feb.6th,1919 Yours received this A.M.I have no further Information to give, than A submitted In my former letter/ for the reason, that 1 do not know any.Excepting, that in the same mail with yours I received another letter from Elliot, Sayingthat from the fact, that I had not seen fit to answer the few questions asked in his former letter,he would have no further interest in the Moapa Magnesite,etc.-Horrors/ ue seems to have changed very suddenly after seeing you, whatever did you do to him? Ha Ha. Mr^so s SA.nBg.eGleeosr,gGeal. "ear Madam:- Reading between the lines I can still the snake crawltng around. A If they are to have nothing more to do with the property it is quite allright, for they have not proposed anything vet other than a very clever scheem to have it turned over to# them for nothing ,1 have no doubt the Old Gentlemen Elliot is allright,if he was from under Ashtons influence, and if/ the time^^omeSp ^at^any one who will put in the money for a plant, terms can be had with him allright,if thev are deiirert. 1 think it highley probable, that he hasent had very good t,r-eatmant from Stewart.Hut cannot say as to that. Have written/// Dempster,in Scotland, saying we would/ take for the property, the price we had bamed him in 1914, and also gib informed him the salt could be had for $1S'0.P00, it will probabley be from four to && six weeks before we again hear from them. worreying There is no use £&&&&&£; about the Ashton Bunch, for they have no money, absolutley refused to put up a dollar. But on top of that wanted the property turened over in a way that, they could steal the whole business and leave us helpless in the matter.1 know Stewart has no money either, and probhev will not be able to do anything, but he ;at least,is not trying to steal the property from us. Ashton has submitted several prppositions to the Perkins boys for their claims, but offering no money under any of them,And in his last letter wanted a letter stateing he had an option on those claims until 1 March, next upon which to raise an enetial payment of two hundred Dollars, they refused to give it. It may now be the 16th,before I will see you,as the takeing of the witnesses testimoney has bern put off untill the l5th,possibley I might come in a dav or two earlier. Very truly yours vi typhus Thomas,Nev. "©s Angeles, Cal
