Panaca,Nevada,July,5th,1917 Mrs Sadie B.George -Los Angeles,Cal. ^ear Madam Yours of 19th,ult received some time ago, with the option signed by yourself, but I too have been away fl from home, and very buisy and hence neglected to answer. My reasons for useing the Las *egas Bank for the escrow was that in the event of troible over it,with the purchaers, it could be handled at less cost,in the state where the^ cause of action arose, than it could to have to first get judgement here and then transferr the judgement to California and then go into court again, neither would we have been bitten on charges as you seem to fear. Possibly there may have been a wheel within a wheel, but if so l fail to know it,and if it is a well arranged plan of the Salt liake people(which I dont for a moment beliewe) I would have been very glad to have seen it materialize and the stock sold at that figure, But am sorry to say the fchole matter seems to have fallen through, and the laugh is on me. On the. 2nd inst, the majority of the board of directors of the salt company met at St^homasjit being the regular quarterly meeting day,and authorized the giveing of a new lease on the property to Bigelow and Main, upon substantially the same terms as the old one,but permitting them to assigne the lease to a corporation etc. They made arrangements to have the salt work commence when in StThomas, but diy*' to the trouble in getting powder and steel,it had not commenced when I left, but will imraldiatly, and they are due to have out 150 tons before the first flf August. The new lease will probably not be ?iven them before that date In the matter of pooling interests with Mr Toladd you will recall, that I have been telling you for 6 or 8 years ,that they would eventually desire to do that.As to the advisability of it,I Could not advise you untill I knew theyr terms under whivh it would be done, the whole matter would hinge upon the terras and the management. You must «se your own judgement,he has not mentioned it to us. Have had no word from Stewart thus for,and am somehow getting a hunch that he isent going to accomplish anything. H© has been stringing you about the Sloan wireing me to buy the deposit, and I dont think Sloan has any interest in the Los angeles Pressed brick Co.When in StThomas I ask Stewart if such was the case, and he said he dident think so,I am inclined i'anaca, Nevada, July, 25th, 1917 Mrs Sadie B.George Ajos Angeles,Cal* Bear Madam: - Under the terms of the lease on the magnesite,as given to Alonzo L Stewart, there is due to the owners of the said deposit and claims, the lesors, from him Stewart, the sum of $500,since he has failed to take the 500 tons of material. Within a day or two there will he forwarded to him, from StThomas,a statemtn in connection with the payment of said amount, which, for your information,1 herewith enclose you,a copy ofi said statement, which as stated above will go forward to Stewart,! trust the sane will be staisfactory and give you the desired information in connection with the matter, 1 suggest that you make personal demand upon Stewart for your part of the money,as shown by the statement, that is if you finde the same correct, and that you make such demand, or 1 should say that you serve notice of the facts, contained in the enclosed notice, upon him before the 1st of Agust, and that you have such notice witnessed nave had no word from him and dorit"know anything of how he is getting along,or what his intentions are,1!* he failes to make good on this payment,my own feelings are that we should at once serve notice of forfeiture of the bease upon him,and proceed to dispose of the property to some one of the different parties, who are desirous of purchaseing it.
