Lane dba Johnnie Lane’s Race Book, 115 North 1st Street for license for one Race Horse Book for the third quarter of 1953 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Sharp and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple. Commissioner Whipple stated that he was voting "No" because he objected to Race Books operating in the City. Commissioner Jarrett originally passed his vote and then change to "no" for the same reason that Commissioner Whipple had voted that way. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett stated that he was going to disqualify himself in voting on this license since his brother Glenn Jarrett is negotiating to enter this enterprise. J., John and Esther Buckley dba Buckley's Changes Inc. 20 Fremont for license of 60 slot machines for the third quarter of 1953, said application being a change in that Esther Buckley is added to the license, be approved subject to favorable investigation by the Police Department on the new applicant. Commissioner Whipple moved the application of Robert Testolin, James Fare to renew the license for one "21" game at the Cinnabar Casino and add the name of H. C.
