John H. Farley ATTORNEY AT LAW 620 ROANOKE BUILDING MINNEAPOLIS 2, MINNESOTA August 7, 1958 Mr. A1 Freeman e/o Sands Hotel Las Vegas, California Dear Al: I thought you might be interested in the enclosed copy of DuPont*s Trade publication "Packages & People". We thought that a particularly good picture of the package. I wish I had encouraging news to report to you on the baking industry generally, but we are still in the throes of a price war in portions of this area which keeps everyone on edge for fear it might break out over the whole area. Also, the printers are on strike. So, if you have your point of sale and advertising copy which we dis- cussed when you were in Minneapolis, we could sure use it. Mr. Booth and I met with Mr. Hale and Mr. Heatherington, . \ of General Mills, this morning for a preliminary discussion. They ' proposed a rather thorough investigation of production from the point of view of our ability to furnish a blend or mix and further dis- cussions as to what should be done. They indicated an active in- terest along the lines which they discussed with you when you were in Minneapolis. Mr. Lohman, the Vice-President who'll they felt should be in on our discussions, was out of town and we have tentatively made a date to call at their office some day the early part of week after next. You migMLbe interested in a little banter that took place between myself, aninterstate official and an official of the American Jakeries who locally do business under the name of "Taystee". The nterstate official kept calling me ?╟úMr. Angelata". When the Taystee came along, X said! "For Heaven*s Sake, Joe, get Chuck off my baekj he is continually referring to me as *Mr. Angelita?╟╓". The Taystee man then said; "I just got through telling Mr. Graham McQuire (St. Cloud Minnesota baker) that between his promotion of St. John*s Bread and yours of Angelita the Catholic Church had been set back 15 years."
