Scope and Contents

Angelita's Bread (1958-1961) was a century old recipe that was made by the nuns at St. Rose De Lima Hospital in Henderson, Nevada and given to patients. Al Freeman, Entertainment and Publicity Director at the Sands, was a patient there in 1957 and credited the bread for his recovery. He contacted Holsom Bakery and contracted them to produce the bread state wide. It was successful for a time, however, sales began to wane in the mid-1960s and Holsom did not renew their contract. The series includes correspondence, contracts, photographs, labels and designs, sales records, and newspaper clippings.
