Abstract
The Blanch Jackson Photograph Collection (approximately 1900-1941) contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives from the Jackson family’s life in Tonopah, Nevada and their travels to mining sites in Nevada and Arizona. Blanch, her husband Clyde, her father-in-law Colonel David Howell Jackson, their two sons, and some acquaintances are pictured in the photographs.

The Blanch Jackson Photograph Collection (approximately 1900-1941) contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives from the Jackson family’s life in Tonopah, Nevada and their travels elsewhere. People pictured in the photographs are Blanch and her husband Clyde, her father-in-law Colonel David Howell Jackson, their two sons, and some acquaintances. The photographs depict life in Tonopah, Nevada, particularly celebratory parades, views of the town, photographs of the Jackson family, and mining sites in and around Tonopah. The collection also includes photographs from the Jacksons’ travels to other mining sites in Candelaria, Nevada; Goldfield, Nevada; Rhyolite, Nevada; Belmont, Nevada; Searchlight, Nevada; Chloride, Arizona; and Mineral Park, Arizona. Some images document David Howell Jackson’s expeditions to locales in California and Alaska. All photographic prints have a corresponding negative. Negatives 0243_0060 and 0243_0101 do not have a print copy.

Biographical / Historical Note
Born on January 22, 1884, Blanch Jackson was the daughter of Edward F. Frailey and Mrs. Frailey. Frailey was the superintendent of waterworks in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In April 1904, Blanch married prominent mining industry figure Clyde Jackson in Lancaster. They moved to Tonopah, Nevada after the wedding. Blanch passed away on January 25, 1973.
Clyde Jackson was the son of Colonel David Howell and Orrie Jackson. He was born on December 22, 1872. He grew up to work in the mining business like his father and was a prominent figure in the Tonopah community. He was a charter member of the Mizpah Club in Tonopah. Clyde worked as superintendent for the Tonopah and Great Western Mining Company, Tonopah and California Mining Company, Jim Butler Mine, and the Revert Divide, and was one of McNamara Mining Company’s principal owners. He went on frequent business trips to industry offices in California and to mining sites in more rural areas such as Esmeralda County, Nevada; Rhyolite, Nevada; and Mineral Park, Arizona. He passed away on August 30, 1956.
Colonel David Howell Jackson, born on December 8, 1833 in Ohio, most famously served as manager of the Comstock Mining Company. He was superintendent of various other mining companies such as the Holmes Mining Company and vice-president of the North Tonopah Gold Mining Company. He retired to Southern California and passed away on January 30, 1925.
