The meeting was called to order at ^>:10 p.m. II. Roll call was taken III. Motion by Steve Hammel to dispense with the reading of the minutes. Seconded by Rick Cuellar Motion passed unanimously. ,'V. Old Business-Amendments Motion by Dick Torres to table the amendments until the new administration can take office. Seconded by Carl Collins Rick Cuellar noted that these amendments have been waiting a long time and should be voted on now. If the new senate wishes to bring these up again before they go to the student body, they can. Call for the question by Steve Hammel. Seconded by Carl Collins Question failed- U yes, 6 no, 1 abstain Further discussion Call for the question by Rick Cuellar Seconded by Steve Hammel Question passed- 10 yes, 1 no. Point of information, You cannot table the amendments as they have never came out of the committee. Pandora Nash brought from committee the cultural arts commission, the student welfare commission and the Preamble Motion to table and second withdrawn. Motion by Carl Collins to recess for five minutes Seconded by Steve Hammel. Motion passed unanimously. Discussion on the amendments. A. Cultural Arts Commission Steve Hammel questioned if this commission would take the place of the activities board. John Tofano answered that essentially it would replace the "...activities board. Motion by Ron Nold to accept and vote on each amendment s eparat ely. Seconded by Carl Collins Motion passed- 10 yes, 1 no. John Tofano stated that he felt the people from the art, drama, and music departments are in a better position to select cultural activities. Ron Nold recommended striking Section Val Buhecker stated that Section #3a is incorrect as,according to the constitution, the President represents CSUN to the Board of Regents. Motion passes Quorum was broken at 6p.m. by John Tofano • nii'i&i'i' 'tfi'X The Cultural Arts Commission « Article VIII, #10, iac0 B* 2L) The Cultural Arts Coasjsission shall consist of the following appointed members; a) Two CSUN Senators b) The student union board chairman or his representative will represent the union board and will be the only student union board member on the Cultural Arts Commission® c) Two students at large0 d) One student at large from the Art Department* e) One student at large from the ITusic Department » f) One student at large from the Drama Department* g) One student at large from each major ethno-eultural organisation on ©tunpus that has CSUH recognition,, h) One faculty member non«voting from the Pine Arts Department* 25 It will be the sole responsibility of the Cultural Arts Cossnission to obtain- schedule, administer and publicise all GSDTf sponsored functions in the performing arts as well as entertainment and social events a) To be responsible for asquinting the student body with the cultural opportunities available to them ©n and off the campus and for stimulating their interest in such opportunities? b) To establish and maintain a student discount policy which shall procure discount rates for ail iTSLV students to off campus events in the performing arts* 3) The Cultural .Arts Commission shall be required to submit to the CSUN senate a budget for the years' activities and a monthly statement of expenditures and revenuesa !$.)
