IMPROVEMENTS AND DEVELOPEMENTS -Continuedmake up the surface equipment.The improvements and developements on the PAWNEE CLAIM consist of a vertical shaft approximately sixty feet deep anda number of open cuts and trenches.MINING facilitiesThe Goldfield Mining District enjoys unusually good transportation facilities by rail in all directions and has many miles of well kept auto and freight roads traversing it in every part so that ready access is available to the markets for mine supplies and timber and powder.Electric power from the plants of the Nevada-California Power Company near Bishop, Calif., is the power most generally used throughout this section of the State, though oil for steam purposes and distillate for internal combustion engines are used to some extent and have their economical place.Electric power is available at prices from one cent to five cents per kw.hr. according to quantity used and load factor.Labor of all kinds is abundant and according to agreement is paid $3.50 per shift of 8 hrs. for common labor on surface, $4.00 and up for miners, $5.00 and up for hoisting men, and $6.00 to $8.00 for foremen and superintendents from $l0.00 up.Water has never been a serious factor in mining in this district though some is met with at depth and been annoying for a brief period. It is generally acid and is not much used for milling but an abundant supply of potable water is delivered by the local water company thru mains laid to the properties.
