a blacksmith shop and mining tools for sinking wells, a 10,000 gallon tank reservoir on site 130 feet above the town level, a main of 31/2" steel pipe 3000 feet long to the south edge of town, a 2" main through the main street to north end and side pipe to side walk, about 2000 feet in all. Inch, 3/4" and 1/2" pipe connect the consumers. There are 30 meters on the lines, and are the property of the company.Then follows a 2" steel casing main past the January and Combination mines to the Florence Group (the contract destination) from thence to Combination office. The length of this latter line is about 4500 feet. There are only six consumers on this line at present. Although this line had to be laid whether or no it bids fair to supply many consumers.The Water Company owns a tent roof office building on leased ground, a horse buckboard and saddle. The Reduction Company owns a tent roof laboratory on same leased ground. Reduction Company owns a 41/2-acre tract adjoining town site, on Columbia avenue, cost $140, and should sell for $750 to $1000 soon. It was bought for right of way purpose and not so used.WATER BUSINESS. The plant above described is supplying 44 regular customers and some transient. Thirty have meters and pay at rate of one cent for 5000 gallons. If meter shows 10,000 gallons, rate is 3/4 cent, if 15,000, 1/2 cent(monthly consumption). Others have a flat rate. As August is the first month when meters have been used hence cannot report result. Water was turned in May 10th. Returns in May $210, June and July bring total up to $1028.95. Add to this pipe and fitting sales $805.30. August water sales will be about $750, pipe sales $250, approximate making a total income of $2834.25. Regarding future business I can only say that new customers are being put on every week. The side street residence people are clamoring for connections and cannot understand why we do not pipe to them. There are three side streets and one cross street that need service. An extension of line on main street will soon be needed. Jumbo town, near Jumbo mine, is crying for pipe. It is 1500 to 1800 feet away from Combination end of present line. The Combination Company will take from 10,000 to 15,000 gallons daily of us in preference to piping from Alkali, if we will sell for $1.50 for 1000. We have asked $2.50 per 1000 gallons. It is claimed by many that Goldfield will have 10,000 people inside of one year. We have 1800 now perhaps. You can approximate the increased consumption.The status is that we have a practical monopoly of the water for town use though not an absolute one, as they have in some Nevada cities. But we have by far the best prospect for one of the largest cities in Nevada.COST OF PLANT. A balance sheet of company's books, August 31st, is attached. It shows that of Reduction Company money spent upon the Water Company's plant$1,000 00 went for 92,000 shares stock. 14,129 42 went for wells and improvements.$15,129 42The receipts from water and pipe sales, $1834.25, have also gone into improvement. This estimate was not so far wrong if proper allowance is made from above figures for sums diverted to improvements to accomplish outside sale of water, which sale fully warrants the divergence from the original plans.WORK INCOMPLETE. On the work above described there remains to be finished the burying of 6400 feet of pipe, only partially done now. Most of this requires only light dirt covering. Five hundred feet needs boxing. Estimated cost $400 to $500.
