Box 334 112 Hall St. GOLDFIELD, NEVADA Oct 7--08 Dear Folks: Will try and write you a few lines before I start out this morning. Tell you I hated to get up so earley here but this is the only chance I get to write you. When I crossed the Calif. line you could not tell it from Nev. We rode along Death Valley nearly all afternoon of the 4th. On the morning of the 5th we reached San Bernardino Calif. just as it was getting day light. Passed through Riverside just at Sun up. Thoughts of [Sumans Peter]? Ha Ha Got that backwards. I landed here in town at 8 in the morning. Went to a Hotel & washed up and went and got breakfast. Hadn't been out on the street 10 minutes until I met Geo. O. [Suman?]. We had a long talk. Run around over the city the 5th and yettook in the Baloon Route Excustion Saw the big oil fields old Spanish plazas [P?]arks, Nat'l Soldiers home and stopped at several beaches along the ocean. Tell you the pond is great. I am going down to the largest beach today and go in the surf. Went to a fight last night. It don't cost hardly anything to get around & live here when you think of what I have been used to paying
