Biographical / Historical Note
The Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN) was founded in 1994 as the umbrella organization for Nevada's progressive groups and insitutions. Among the issues with which PLAN is frequently involved are issues of gay equality. The material in this collection comes from the personal files of PLAN founder and executive director Robert "Bob" Fulkerson. Fulkerson helped found the Campaign for Liberty to fight the Minority Status and Child Protection Act of 1994, which was a failed anti-gay initiative petition effort by the Nevada and Oregon Citizens Alliances. Between 2000 and 2002 PLAN served as the fiscal agent and coordinating organization for the Coalition for Unity and Equal Rights Nevada, which was founded to fight Question 2, Nevada's anti-same-sex marriage constitutional amendment. On April 17, 2014, PLAN celebrated its 20 year anniversary.
