Abstract
The Cave Nightclub Records (1992-1994) are comprised of materials generated during the planning and construction of the Cave Nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada. It opened in 1992 as a straight nightclub. It changed ownership in 1993, and reopened on September 3, 1993 as a gay nightclub and closed early in 1995. The collection contains policy documents, building plans, and promotional and publicity materials, as well as artifacts, including waiter uniforms from the nightclub.

Biographical / Historical Note
The Cave Nightclub opened as a straight club at 5740 West Charelston in Las Vegas, Nevada in July 1992. The club had a caveman theme with novelty cocktails and an interior that resembled a cave. The club closed in 1993.
In 1993, Jim Long and Carl Fenske, the new owners of the club, hired Ed Uehling and Marlon Tinana as managers to transform The Cave into a gay nightclub. Tinana and Uehling had experience in managing Gipsy, a popular gay nightclub in Las Vegas, and also owned a gay bookstore, Get Booked.
The new club opened the weekend of September 3-5, 1993 and became popular. Despite early success the club had financial, personnel, and other problems. Marlon Tinana left The Cave on January 1, 1994. The club closed early in 1995.
