Uehling, Ed, 1940-

Description

Edmund Uehling is a real estate investor, politician, and supporter of the Las Vegas, Nevada gay community. He born on May 15, 1940 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Uehling moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1943 when the Bureau of Reclamation hired Uehling's father to work in Boulder City as a civil engineer. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in public administration from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

In 1992, Uehling was invovled with the founding of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada. In 1993, Uehling was hired along with Marlon Tinana as managers to transform The Cave Nightclub into a gay nightclub. Tinana and Uehling had experience in managing the Gipsy, a popular gay nightclub in Las Vegas, and also owned a gay bookstore, Get Booked.

Uehling unsuccessfully ran for Clark County, Nevada Sheriff in 1994, Las Vegas Mayor in 2011, Nevada State Senate District 10 in 2014, Nevada State Assembly 16 in 2016, and Governor of Nevada in 2018.
