Abstract
The Joan Snyder Meadows Playhouse Collection (1968-1981) consists of materials from the Meadows Playhouse, a University of Nevada, Las Vegas playhouse that was located on Maryland Parkway, south of the university campus. It includes architectural plans, interdepartmental and external correspondence and memos about designing a theater major program, examples of other university theater major requirements, press releases, copies of plays with set design and director’s notes, notes on student actors, photographs, production playbills, and newspaper clippings regarding various productions.

The Joan Snyder Meadows Playhouse Collection (1968-1981) consists of materials from the Meadows Playhouse, a University of Nevada, Las Vegas playhouse that was located on Maryland Parkway, south of the university campus. The collection contains architectural plans, interdepartmental and external correspondence and memos about designing a theater major program, examples of other university theater major requirements, press releases, copies of plays with set design and director’s notes, notes on student actors, photographs, production playbills, and newspaper clippings regarding various productions. The collection includes materials from director Jerry C. Crawford, who taught at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada and founded their M.F.A. degree in playwriting. Joan Snyder was the co-founder of the Meadows Playhouse and served as the artistic director from 1977 to 1982.

Biographical / Historical Note
Joan Snyder (1943- ) was the co-founder of the Meadows Playhouse, Nevada's first professional year-round theater. She served as the artistic director from 1977 to 1982, and received a Governor's award for outstanding contribution to theater in Nevada. Snyder also served as an acting instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 1967 to 1976. She currently splits her time between Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, California, working as a keynote speaker, retreat leader, and yoga and meditation instructor, under the name Joan Frances Moran.
