Biographical / Historical Note

The Monte Carlo Club opened in 1945 at 15 Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Monte Carlo Club offered casino games including roulette, craps, blackjack, and poker, and had a 24-hour cocktail lounge. The business incorporated in 1944 with Wilbur Clark as the first president. Clark sold his shares in 1949 and went on to open the Desert Inn. In 1949, Fred Soly, John McMahon, Charles Fechser, and William A. Polson took over ownership and operation of the club. The Monte Carlo Club closed in approximately 1957.
