Biographical / Historical Note

Frank (Francis) Raphael McNamee Sr. and Effie Alice Webster McNamee were early residents of Nevada. They met and later married in the Eureka, Nevada mining camp in 1885. They had four sons and four daughters. Although Frank McNamee initially worked as a barber and Justice of the Peace in Eureka, he later passed the bar, moved to Delamar, and was attorney for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years. Two of their sons, Frank Jr. and Leo, were also attorneys. Frank Jr. attended law school at Stanford, and was appointed to Nevada's Eighth Judicial District Court in 1958, and then to the Nevada Supreme Court. Frank Jr. also served in World War II. The elder brother, Leo, was a veteran of World War I and attended law school at the University of Southern California. He served as an attorney for the Union Pacific Railroad, and the Six Companies. In 1942, he was appointed to the Nevada Board of Regents by Governor E. P. Carville.
