Biographical / Historical Note
Sasha’s Nightclub and Restaurant opened in late 2001 at 4640 Paradise Road in Las Vegas, Nevada. Owner D. L. Washburn named the club after Las Vegas female impersonator Sasha Scarlett (given name Josh Ryan) who also managed the club. Sasha’s was a regular venue for performances by singers Michael Cagle, Michael LaRocca, Kenny Kerr, and Rudy de la Mor. Sasha’s was noted for female impersonation and drag shows, and served as meeting space for the Lambda Business Association and other Las Vegas lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) organizations. Washburn also served the Las Vegas Hawaiian community with occasional "Hawaiian Night" shows. Scarlett served as board president of the Southern Nevada Association of Pride, Inc. (SNAPI). In 2003, they were accused of financial malfeasance and mismanagement of the 2003 Las Vegas Gay Pride event and was subsequently removed from the Pride board. On June 7, 2003 the nightclub name was changed to Tramps, which later closed.
