The Carratelli Family Collection on Gay Rights in Nevada (1992-2002) consists of documents and ephemera from various gay rights organizations and events in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to documents, fliers, and meeting minutes, the collection houses a box of t-shirts from various gay events and campaigns. The collection is especially focused on issues of Gay Pride organizing.

Biographical / Historical Note

Lesbian activists Susan and Holly Carratelli were involved with several Las Vegas, Nevada gay community organizations, including the Gay and Lesbian Community Center, the Metropolitan Community Church, Women United of Nevada, the Las Vegas Association of Pride, Incorporated, and the Nevada Gay Rodeo Association. Holly Carratelli was born in Las Vegas in 1962; Susan moved to Las Vegas with her family from Brooklyn, New York in 1961. The two met in 1994 and were married February 12, 1999 as part of the local observance of National Freedom to Marry Day. The couple has two children, and founded the Las Vegas chapter of We Are Family, an organization which supports same-sex couples and their children.

Materials were donated in 2007 by Susan and Holly Carratelli; accession number 2007-023.

Material was first processed by Dennis McBride in 2007. In 2014, as part of a legacy finding aid project, Ian M. Baldwin revised and enhanced the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards. Subsequently, Ian M. Baldwin uploaded the data into ArchivesSpace.
