Biographical / Historical Note

Assemblyman Paul W. May, Jr. served in the Nevada Legislature from 1966 until 1984. Born in Hot Springs, Virginia, he moved with his family to North Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1943. After graduation from Las Vegas High School, May spent three years in the United States Army. Following his service, he built a career as a real estate agent and broker and as a lobbyist for the City of North Las Vegas. May chaired the Assembly Standing Committee on Taxation for six of the ten sessions he served. He was also involved in numerous organizations, such as the Las Vegas Elks, American Legion, North Las Vegas Township Democratic Club, the Air Force Association, and the Masons. Paul W. May, Jr. passed away on November 14, 2000.

Acquisition Note

Materials were donated in two separate acessions, 1976 and 1987, by Paul May; 77-191, 87-105.

Processing Note

Collection was processed in 2017 by Joyce Moore. In 2017, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, John A. Heldt rehoused some of the materials and revised the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards.
