Biographical / Historical Note

Established in 1993 by an act of the Nevada Legislature, the North Las Vegas Library District consists of three branch public libraries. The oldest branch, the North Las Vegas Library, opened in 1966 and moved to the City Hall building in 2014. The Aliante and Alexander libraries opened in 2006 and 2009, respectively. The district provides reference services, a Spanish collection, cultural and civic programs, children's arts and crafts, story times, and public-use computers. The city manager, the chief administrative officer, and a seven-member board of trustees, appointed by the city council, govern the district.
