Abstract
The K. O. Knudson Photographs (approximately 1920-1969) depict the Las Vegas Grammar School and service, fraternal, and veterans organizations gathered by retired Las Vegas, Nevada school administrator and World War I veteran K. O. Knudson (also known as K. Oscar Knudson). The collection includes images of Knudson, Las Vegas Masonic Lodge members, American Legion members, and school dances. The photographs primarily feature Las Vegas, Nevada.

Biographical / Historical Note
K. Oscar Knudson was born April 14, 1894 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Norwegian immigrant parents. He began his bachelor’s degree at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho in 1916, but did not complete his degree before enlisting in the United States Army in March 1917. During Knudson's military service, he served as a dispatcher and earned the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the military in November of 1918, Knudson moved to Globe, Arizona and worked as a miner. Shortly after, he became a school teacher in Arizona. Knudson moved to Reno, Nevada in 1921 and enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno to continue working towards a Bachelor of Science in Education while teaching in Nevada. In 1923, Knudson joined the Masonic Lodge in Fernley, Nevada. By 1926, Knudson and his growing family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he began teaching at the Las Vegas Grammar School and became its principal in 1927. He later completed his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Idaho in 1936. Knudson retired from teaching in 1959.
K. O. Kundson passed away in 1981.

Materials were processed by Special Collections staff. In 2016, as part of a legacy finding aid conversion project, Maryse Lundering-Timpano wrote the collection description in compliance with current professional standards. In 2019, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Jimmy Chang added materials and revised the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards.
