Abstract
The Alice Pearson Papers (1956-2000) contain the personal papers of Alice Pearson and the administrative records of the Mesquite Club, the first service organization founded in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection includes the club’s administrative records, service projects and social events, as well as its membership in the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). Materials within the collection include meeting minutes, correspondence, committee reports, newsletters, notebooks, and scrapbooks.

Biographical / Historical Note
Born in Hendricks, Minnesota, Alice Pearson (1918-2002) moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband in 1956 and became involved in community activities and charitable organizations. She joined the Mesquite Club, one of the first women's club in Southern Nevada, in 1960 and served as president from 1971 to 1972. Alice joined the General Federation of Women's Club (GFWC) in 1960 and served on the GFWC Nevada Board of Directors from 1994 to 1996 and 1998 to 2000. Alice was a charter member of the Assistance League of Las Vegas, as well as a charter member and past president of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. She served on numerous committees and was awarded the prestigious "Life Membership" award by the Salvation Army on May 12, 2000. Alice Pearson passed away on October 17, 2002 in Clark County, Nevada.
