Bruce Eaton oral history interview (OH-00513)

Abstract

Oral history interview with Bruce Eaton conducted by Jay Brewer on April 24, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Eaton discusses his employment as a laborer for Six Companies during the construction of the Hoover (Boulder) Dam and the racial conflicts that occurred. Eaton also talks about a federal investigation he was involved in that involved suspected espionage. Other topics that Eaton discusses include his enlistment in the United States Navy and his role as city manager of Boulder City.

Scope and Contents Note

Oral history interview with Bruce Eaton conducted by Jay Brewer on April 24, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Eaton discusses his family moving to Nevada and him working as a laborer for Six Companies during the construction of the Hoover (Boulder) Dam. Eaton also describes the details of a federal investigation involving Eaton, a case of suspected espionage, and some of the racial conflicts that existed at the dam. Eaton then discusses his enlistment into the United States Navy and the incident that led him to be medically discharged before a deployment. Eaton then discusses his role as city manager and talks about some of the congressional meetings he attended at which he represented the residents of Boulder City on matters relating to the city’s incorporation.
