Abstract
Oral history interview with Ericka Rodriguez and Jose Orozco conducted by Claytee D. White on December 21, 2017 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, Ericka Rodriguez and Jose Orozco recount their experience of the October 1, 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple provide a step-by-step account of what happened on that Sunday night and how they made it to safety. They discuss what has changed in their lives and within themselves after the shooting, Orozco mentioning a greater awareness of his surroundings and Rodriguez speaking about her survivor's guilt. The two interviewees talk about their feelings regarding the life-threatening event as well as the renewed sense of community they have gained.
