Scope and Contents Note
The Mirage Hotel and Casino Photograph Collection (1989) consists of color transparent slides and a color negative depicting locations around the Mirage resort and casino in 1989. Images include exterior shots of a daytime view of the lagoon and volcano fountain, as well as a nighttime view of the volcano erupting. Interior shots include one of the suites, the 20,000 gallon saltwater aquarium and “Lost City of Mirage” village located at the registration lobby, the atrium with views of the gazebo and indoor canal, the Japanese-themed Mikado restaurant dining room, and a view from the Kokomo restaurant's dining room looking at the atrium’s waterfall and lagoon.

Biographical / Historical Note
The Mirage is a 3,044 room Polynesian-themed resort and casino built by Steve Wynn that opened on the Las Vegas, Nevada Strip on November 22, 1989. It is currently owned and operated by MGM Resorts International. The property contains a variety of clubs, table poker and slots, a race and sports book, an 11-acre pool, a lagoon and volcano, a 20,000 gallon aquarium with approximately 450 fish, and Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. The Mirage also hosts the Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil show and hourly volcano eruption shows at night.
