Biographical / Historical Note
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian was born in Euclid, Ohio on August 8, 1930. He coached college basketball for 31 seasons, from 1973 to 1992, he coached the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, leading them four times to the Final Four of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, winning the national championship in 1990.
The floor of UNLV's home arena at the Thomas & Mack Center was named "Jerry Tarkanian Court" in 2005 and in 2013, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Jerry Tarkanian passed away on February 11, 2015.
