Abstract
The Beda and C. Norman Cornwall Photograph Collection (1940s-1978) primarily contains black-and-white photographic prints of Beda and C. Norman engaging in various civic activities. The collection also includes photographic prints of Beda Cornwall’s reception at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as well as C. Norman Cornwall’s riding group, the Los Rancheros Visitadores, during their trek through the Santa Ynez Valley in California. Beda Cornwall was the president of the Citizens’ Library Association of Las Vegas and C. Norman Cornwall was a prominent Las Vegas attorney.

Biographical / Historical Note
Beda Tabitha Brennecke was born on November 21, 1907 in Tulare, South Dakota. She received her education at the University of Idaho and the University of Denver, majoring in education and social services. Beda worked as a teacher in Montrose, Colorado for four years. In 1932, she married Charles Norman Cornwall and they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1943. Beda was active in the United Service Organizations (USO), Travelers’ Aide, Red Cross, and other civic organizations. In 1948, she helped form the Citizens’ Library Association of Las Vegas. By 1952, the organization had successfully raised enough funds to build a new Las Vegas Public Library building. Beda was also the founder and president of the Home of the Good Shepherd Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Children’s Service Guild. Beda Cornwall passed away on June 13, 1994.

Charles Norman (C. Norman) Cornwall was born on May 7, 1902 in Aspen, Colorado. He received his education at the University of Colorado, graduating with a law degree. C. Norman married Beda Brennecke in 1932, and the couple moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1943. He served as City Attorney from 1944 to 1948, and became a prominent Las Vegas attorney. C. Norman was active in several organizations, including the Elks, Shriners, and Eagles. He was also a charter president of the Las Vegas Breakfasters Lions Club, as well a member of the Clark County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse. C. Norman Cornwall passed away in 1967.
