University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Libraries

last week- It appears that it will he necessary in the nearfuture, to make application for an increase in our water rates at Las Vegas. To this end we should secure and have available complete schedules of water rates now in effect at Reno, Lovelocks, Wlnnemueoa, Fallon, Elko, Ely and Tonopah,— the only utilities operating in Nevada at all comparable with Las Vegas. In addition, we should ascertain- as nearly as possible- the various water sources supplying these utilities; if from wells, their depth, character of pumping equipment, etc., their distance from the localities served, cost of entire investment, etc., and similar data where water supply is secured fraa springs or stream system. My thought is that on account of your connection as Manager of Las Vegas Land and Water Company at Las Vegas, you are in position to obtain more complete Information from the respective managers of the utilities mentioned- than ourselves or any of the other departments. Of course this information in the abstract is on file with the Public Service Commission, but it may or may not reflect the present situation, and we would appreciate it very much If you would take this matter up direct with these various utilities and secure a full and complete report- as nearly as practicable-of their present operations, schedules of rates, classification of users, cost, etc. FFM -H F.
