Bear Senator Malone t there is presently in the Senate Interior and Insular Affairs Committee, Senate Bills 3302 and 3303 which propose to provide rights of way for the'~pu2*pe^1§ri>ringing water from Lake Mead to Basic Magnesium, Inc., and for a branch pipe line to bring water Oity of Las Vegas. from the main line to the From your personal participation in the development of Hoover Baa and the immediate area, you are well informed on the history and background of the development of the Las Vegas Valley Water Bittrlot and their urgent need of developing additional water for the use of the city of Las Vegas. t m are undoubtedly aware that the Union pacific Railroad Company has made an agreement of sale o f the Las Vegas Water Company to the Las Vegas Valley Water Blstriot. fh# Las Vegas Valley Water Bistrict has voted a bond issue for the purpose of purchasing the water company and apparently the only stumbling block remaining la the assurance of a permanent means of transporting water from Lake Mead to the territory included in the district. It is essential that the rights of way provided in S 3302 and 8 3303 be granted so that the Water District may proceed with the development of an adequate supply of water for the Las Vegas area. Union Pacific Railroad Company is extremely interested in the development of the Las Vegas basin from an industries! standpoint, which development can only be assured if there is a sufficient axpply of water to serve the territory. The railroad company Is also anxious to complete the sale of the water company to the Las Vegas Valley Water Blstriot.
