ORDINANCE NO. 467 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 36 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY ADDING A NEW SEC­TION ESTABLISHING AND DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS FOR THE USE BY TRUCES AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES OF A CER­TAIN WEIGHT, MAKING THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE A MISDEMEANOR, AND AMENDING CHAPTER 36, SECTION 41, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, FIXING SPEED LIMITS WITHIN THE CITY. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas does ordain as follows: Section 1. Chapter 36 of the Code of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, is hereby amended by adding the following to be designated as Section 143 of Chapter 36: It shall be unlawful for the operator of any truck or commercial vehicle having more than two axles or having a load capacity of more than 5000 lbs, to drive said truck or commercial vehicle through the City of Las Vegas over any street or highway within the limits of the City of Las Vegas other than over and along Charleston Boulevard, Main Street, and Bonanza Road west from Main; provided, however, that if the operator of said truck or commercial vehicle shall be required to use any of the streets of the City other than those named herein for the purpose of delivery or pickup of merchandise, the operator of said vehicle shall obtain a permit from the Traffic Division of the Las Vegas Police Department and shall use the shortest feasible route from said above-named streets to the point of delivery or pickup and return there­from to one of the said above-named streets by the most direct route upon completion of said pickup or delivery. Section 2. Chapter 36, Section 41, of the Code of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, is hereby amended to read as follows: It shall be unlawful for any person to ride, drive, or propel any vehicle at a rate of speed greater than fifteen (15) miles per hour on adjoining school grounds occupied by a school building; or to propel any vehicle at a rate of speed greater than fifteen (15) miles per hour with­in any street intersection of any of the streets in the City; or to pro­pel any vehicle at a rate of speed greater than fifteen (15) miles per hour on any street or alley within the City less than thirty (30) feet in width; or to propel or drive any vehicle at a rate of speed greater than twenty (20) miles per hour along Fremont Street between Main Street and 12th Street; or to propel or drive any vehicle at a rate of speed ex­ceeding thirty-five (35) miles per hour along Fremont Street east from 17th Street to the City Limits, along Rancho Road from Charleston to Bonanza Road, along Bonanza Road from "H" Street to the intersection Of Bonanza Road and Rancho Road, along the Tonopah Highway to the City Limits, along Main Street from Charleston south to Fifth Street; or to propel or drive a vehicle at a rate of speed exceeding twenty-five (25) miles per hour on any other street or highway within the limits of the City except as hereinabove provided. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be pun­ished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the City Jail for not more than six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment; upon a second conviction of any offense under the provisions of this section the person so convicted shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars (1500.00), or by imprisonment in the City Jail for not more than six(6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment, and in addition thereto, if the person so convicted shall own a motor vehicle, the license for said mo­tor vehicle, insofar as it affects the operation of said motor vehicle within the City of Las Vegas, shall be revoked for a period in the dis­cretion of the Court not to exceed six, (6) months; upon a third convic­tion of an offense under the provisions of this section, the person so convicted shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dol­lars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the City Jail for not more than six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment, and in addition thereto, if the person so convicted shall own a motor vehicle, the license for said motor vehicle, insofar as it affects the operation of said motor vehicle within the City of Las Vegas, shall be revoked for a period in the discretion of the Court not to exceed six (6) months, and if the three offenses, and convictions therefor, shall have occurred within a period of twelve (12) months, his license to operate a car or motor vehicle within the City of Las Vegas shall be revoked for a period of not to exceed one (1) year. The municipal judge, in imposing such sentence, shall not suspend the same or any part thereof, and it shall be his duty upon the revoca­tion of a motor vehicle license, within ten (10) days, to forward a re­cord of the conviction to the Motor Vehicle Department of the Office of
