Los Angeles, January 10, 1955 Mr. R. L. Adamson: (cc - Mr. E, E. Bennett - Los Angeles Mr. C. M. Cory - Las Vegas) Refer to Mr. E. E. Bennett’s letter to you dated Dec. 29, 1951+» relative to conference with Mr. Thorne, State Water Engineer at Las Vegas regarding transfer of 2.5 C.P.S, of water from Well #1 to Shop Well at Las Vegas. In accordance with your request, I attended a conference in the office of Mr. Thome, State Water Engineer at Las Vegas, in Room 212 of State Building (phone L.V. 7651+5 at which Hr. Cory, Mr. Thorne, Mr. Winchester of Mr. Shamberger’s office, and myself were present. As you know, the entire appropriation of 2.5 C.P.S, had already been transferred from Well #1 to the Shop Well under Application Mo. 1511+0 which was approved by State Engineer Shamberger on June 8, 1951+* However, ’’Proof of Commencement of Work” under this application number was not filed until Dec. 30, 1951+# but in the meantime application Mo. 15751+ for transfer of 1.1+ C.P.S. of the 2.5 C.F.S., which had already been transferred to the Shop Well, was made and apparently the State office became confused because they had no evidence that the actual transfer of 2.50 C.P.S. to the Shop Well had ever been made since the ”Proof of Commencement of Work” under application Mo. 1511+0 had not been filed at the time application Mo. 15751+ was received. Mr. Cory advised the State Engineers present that the ”Proof of Commencement of Work” under 1511+0 application Mo. has now been filed and they both agreed that when this fact, together with Mr. Cory’s explanation of of the whole situation, is presented to the State Engineers at Carson City that application Mo. 15751+ can be approved without further delay which will enable the Railroad Company to proceed with the drilling of the new well in Shop Grounds. I explained to Mr. Thorne that this matter is urgent and wa3 assured that every effort would be made to expedite the matter.
