Campbell 135 South Fourth Street Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Tom: 4 2 2 W E S T S I X T H S T R E E T L O S A N G E L E S 14, C A L IF O R N IA November 19* 195^ File: 80-11 You will recall that at one time I wrote you a letter which you did not like, so I am writing this one hoping you will like it. I enclose eopy of a letter I wrote to> LVeo McNamee dated November 8th, and eopy of another one dated November 19th. I sincerely think that if the Water District would "go to bat" with the Nevada Tax Commission, they could have the entire year's taxes cancelled; and I think, under the terms of the contract mentioned in my letter of November 8 th to Leo, that the District took this property subject to all taxes levied and assessed on the sale date since those taxes were undoubtedly a lien on the property as of the first of the year, and when the property was sold it was sold subject to all taxes, whether paid or unpaid, at that time; and the Deed conveyed the property to the District provided that it was subject to all taxes, special and general, for the year. The cooperation of the District in having all these taxes waived will not cost the District any money whatsoever, but will save the Railroad or the Water Company, as the case may be, the first two installments of these taxes. As I mentioned in my letter to Leo, we voluntarily waived some $18,000,which I frankly think we could have insisted the District pay,
