This being the time set for the opening of bids for paving Mesquite Street from 2nd to 5th Streets and 4th Street from Stewart to Mesquite Street, bids were received from the following firms: J.M. MURPHY CONSTRUCTION CO. $15,900.59 WELLS CARGO INC. 17,725.60 Commissioner Bunker moved the foregoing bids be referred to the City Engineer and City Attorney for recommendation before the meeting is over. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Bunker moved that Payroll Warrants Nos. 1290 to 1293 inclusive in the net amount of $29,735.47 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Bunker moved that Service and Material Warrants Nos 2260 to 2261 inclusive in the total amount of $33,824.68 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Commissioner Bunker moved the Minutes of April 2, 1952 be approved by reference and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. This being the time set for the public hearing on an appeal of the decision of the Regional Planning Commission on the application of Richard Toleno for variance at 341 North 10th Street to allow the use of existing 8-unit apartment house in an R-2 Zone. Commissioner Bunker moved this hearing be recessed until May 7, 1952 when there is a full Board present. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Searway to permit the construction of a store on the southwest corner of H and McWilliams Streets. Commissioner Peccole moved the tentative lease with the Service League for property in the City Park, as drawn be accepted in the terms and conditions set forth therein and the City Attorney requested to prepare the final lease and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Commissioner Bunker moved the recommendation of the City Manager be accepted and the bid for the construction of rest rooms and a garage in the City Park be awarded to the low bidder, Ben O. Absent: Mayor Baker. The request of Alfred Slade for a shoe shine stand at 125 North 3rd Street was presented at this time. Commissioner Jarrett moved the recommendation of the Building Inspector to remove this shoe shine stand within 30 days from this date, be approved.
