    Las Vegas - March 29# 1948 W 12-1-11 Mr. Frank Strong: lour lattar March 26 regarding fire tone* in the City of Las Vegas: "Requirements based on location in fire tones, Part 4, Chapter 16, Uniform Building Code", re­fers to the Rational Building Code adopted by most major cities. An extra oopy of the volume is not available here, but can be secured by application to Paoifio Coast Building Official’s Conference, 124 West 4th Street, Los Angeles. I attach hereto oopy of Ordinance #303 con­taining amendments to the Uniform Building Code adopted by the City. In order to avoid working a hardship on owners of sub-stand&rd buildings within the zones thus created, the Ordinance attached, made effective August 22, 1945, provided a 5-year period in which the sub­standard buildings must be made to conform to restruetions in the zone they occupy by August 22, 1950* Mew construc­tion will, of oourse, have to conform to the code before building permit will be issued.
