    Las Vegas, Nevada January 6, 1956 A recessed regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada held this 6th day of January, 1956 was called to order at the hour of 5.25 P.M. by His Honor Mayor Baker with the following members present: Mayor C.D.Baker Commissioner Wendell Bunker Commissioner E.W.Fountain Commissioner Harris P.Sharp Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager A.H. Kennedy Asst. City Manager Robert W.Notti City Attorney Howard W. Cannon City Clerk Shirley Ballinger Discussion was held on the proposed amendment to the liquor ordinance. Messrs. James L. Young, Jack Conlon and David Zenoff were present and entered into the discussion. The following amendments were made to the ordinance as proposed: SECTION 2 - The number of package liquor licenses to be issued will be one for each 1000 population. SECTION 3 - (10)-Add the words after general public, "or by bottle for off-premise consumption. SECTION 3 - (17) - Delete the word "sales" in the second sentence and sub­stitute the words "handled only" in place of "controlled". SECTION 3 - (19)- Population of the City. SECTION 3 - (20)- Add this section to define special events. SECTION 8 - Delete the second paragraph. SECTION 10- Set the license fees per quarter as follows: 1) Wholesale liquor and importers, $375.00 2) Wholesale beverage and importers, $375.00 3) Tavern, $375.00 4) Package Liquor, $270.00 5) Beverage License, $50.00 6) Beer License, $50.00 7) Club License, $25.00 8) Hotel Liquor $375.00 for each bar and $300.00 for each service bar. 9) Service bar, $300.00 10) Special events, $10.00 per day for beverages and $25.00 per day for liquor. SECTION 11 - Substitute the words "sale of intoxicating liquors" for "conduct of a tavern". SECTION 12 - Delete SECTION 13 - Change to Section 12 and delete the portion of the first sentence from "from one location to another, etc.". In the second sentence fill in "60" in the blank and use the word "revoke" instead of "withdraw". Thereafter an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCES NOS. 586 AND 632 AND TO AMEND CHAPTER 16, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 483 ALL DEALING WITH THE SALE OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS, BY PROVIDING THE BASIS FOR THE ISSUANCE OF LIQUOR LICENSES; PROVIDING FOR TYPES OF LIQUOR LICENSES; PROVIDING FOR LICENSE FEES THEREFORE; PROVIDING PROCEDURES FOR REVOCATION OF LICENSES; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Whipple moved the above entitled Ordinance No, 688 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The Commission directed that no new applications for liquor licenses be ac­cepted until the second quarter of 1956. Commissioner Sharp moved authorization be granted to the Building Department to re-examine the building occupied by Mike's Liquor Store at 106 Fremont Street. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Com­missioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the following permits for solicitation of funds be granted, as recommended by the Solicitations Review Board: Clark County Humane Society - 90 days American Red Cross - 90 days permit commencing February 1 for advance gifts and March 1, 1956 active solicitation. 1-6-56 ORDINANCE NO. 688 Liquor Amendment MIKES LIQUOR STORE BUILDING SOLICITATION PERMITS
