    I I % - 4 - Homes recently completed and those under construction are high class residences, located on large lo t s , most of which are be­ing landscaped, and w ill require large additional quantities of water. In addition to th is, many homes in the older residen tial district, not previously having lawns, are n m being planted, and there appears to be a general feeling of civic pride in beautifying th eir places, a l l of which adds to an already excessive demand. The additional w ell, of constructed, should produce approx­imately as much as present artesian w ell, and would take care o f future requirements as well as provide sufficient overflow for the continued operation of the ranch, which seems advisable. This would relieve the constant apprehension of a water shortage during summer months, and provide adequate fir e protection. In view of the com­paratively small additional investment required, and the benefits to be derived, it would seem that the expenditure should be made. Item 2. Benewing pipe lin e . The pipe lin e from settlin g basin to reservo ir, and from reservoir to a point shown on attached print where pipe line crosses old Tonopah Highway, is in deplorable condition and should be replaced at once. There can be no question but that it should be replaced by east iron pipe. The present wooden lin e appears to have been hacked by an axe at one point, shot through with a .22 bu llet at another, burnt in several places and is exposed to vandalism or accidental brush fir e s at any time. It w ill be noted from attached print that the proposed plan contemplates laying of new lin e from old Tonopah Highway on a different alignment than present lin e so that it w ill enter the city six blocks north of present entr­ance.
