Entratter said the 1 million dollar loss by the hotel was in addition to a costly New Year's Eve party held last night in the Copa Room where Frank Sinatra is currently appearing. Each woman in the crowded, Copa Room was given 25 newly minted silver dollars in an expensive velvet bag. The hotel donated 500 cases of free champagne, turning out nearly 8,000 glasses of New Year's Eve toasfi|'io visitors in the last six hours before midnight. More than 100,000 persons poured into this desert resort town over the weekend to spend the holiday.
