BID NO. 59.47 The Commission considered the recommendation of the Public Works Department that Street Sweeper Bid No. 59.47 for Street Sweeper be awarded to the Clark County Wholesale Mercantile Company, 512 South Main Street, in the total amount of $8,711.00 for a Wayne Award Sweeper. Clark County Wholesale Director of Public Works Sauer explained that this bid is approximately $211.00 above the low bid submitted by the A-D Machinery Company, Inc. for a Mobile Sweeper; however, in view of the difficulties the Street Department had experienced with the operation and parts supply of the two Mobile Sweepers purchased in 1957, it was recommended that the low bid not be accepted. Commissioner Fountain moved that Bid No. 59.47 for Street Sweeper be awarded to the Clark County Wholesale Mercantile Company, 512 South Main Street, in the total amount of $8,711.00, for a Wayne Sweeper. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor C. D. Baker. BID NO. 59.48 Commissioner Sharp moved that Bid No. 59.48, Alternate #6, Tanker Truck Cab and Tanker Truck, Cab Chassis, 3000 gallon capacity, for the Fire Department, be awarded to the Clark and Chassis County Wholesale Mercantile Company, 512 South Main Street, in the amount of $9,281.28.
