SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES AND SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY W. H. BANCROFT, First Vice-president OFFICE OF FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT Salt Lake City, August 3rd, 1914. ISx* J. Hess Clark, Second Vice-President, Los Angeles. Dear Sir: Replying to your letter July 31st, Pile 1667, and returning herewith all correspondence, together with Perm 30, Los Angeles. Division Ho. 842, covering expenditure of §627.18 already made on packing house leased to the Sutherland Pruit Company, at Riverside. I have approved this request, hut in reading the correspondence I reached the conclusion that the amount referred to covers money that was expended before a Perm 30 was submitted, to cover an addition or some patch work on this packing house that the Sutherland people asked to have done. There is also attached to these papers some communications relative to a washing machine, or some other machinery that was installed in this packing house by the Sutherland Pruit Company, at a cost of §357.04, which they afterwards sought to have paid by this company. Am I correct in understanding, please, that this bill for §357.04, covering equipment installed in this packing house by the Sutherland people, has been definitely declined» and that the §627.18, amount of Porm 30 attached, represents only the work that division officials were authorized to do?
