Lovett 165 Broadway, Hew York* Hear Sir: I received your telegram today covering a note from Mr, Kruttschnitt accompanied by a message from Mr# Sproule to Mr* Krattsohnitt relating to statements made by Mr* H* 0, Hutt to Mr* Paul Shoup concerning the plans of the Salt Lake Route for the construction of fruit packing houses on its linos* X infer that Mr* Sproule and Mr. Kruttschnitt were very much exercised by this* Ihey,having already established their packing houses on their own lines would, no doubt, like to have some agreement that would re­strict the construction of any additional packing houses, fheir policy is a narrow and selfish one and regardless of any consequences that may follow, it would seem to me that we should disregard the implied threat which is conveyed in the telegram of Mr* Sproule# I note your conference with Mr* Hruttschnitt and your statement to him,that while we had not definitely adopted any plans yet, we were not getting a reasonable share of the citrus fruit business and were now endeavoring to provide plans which would enable us to obtain a reasonable share of that business. I quite approve of the position taken by you as we must protect our own interests and the feet, is that we have been receiving only from 12 to 15$ of the citrus fruit
